महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-40, verse-60

सिंहास्यं च यथा प्राप्य न जीवन्ति मृगाः क्वचित् ।
तथा कर्णमनुप्राप्य न जीवन्ति महारथाः ॥६०॥
60. siṁhāsyaṁ ca yathā prāpya na jīvanti mṛgāḥ kvacit ,
tathā karṇamanuprāpya na jīvanti mahārathāḥ.
60. siṃhāsyam ca yathā prāpya na jīvanti mṛgāḥ kvacit
tathā karṇam anuprāpya na jīvanti mahārathāḥ
60. yathā mṛgāḥ siṃhāsyam prāpya kvacit ca na jīvanti
tathā mahārathāḥ karṇam anuprāpya na jīvanti
60. And just as deer, having entered a lion's mouth, never survive anywhere, similarly, great charioteers, having encountered Karna, do not survive.
