महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-13, verse-106

एतादृशानि दुःखानि सहन्ते दुर्बलीयसाम् ।
दीर्घकालं प्रदीप्तानि पापानां क्षुद्रकर्मणाम् ॥१०६॥
106. etādṛśāni duḥkhāni sahante durbalīyasām ,
dīrghakālaṁ pradīptāni pāpānāṁ kṣudrakarmaṇām.

106. The weakest endure such miseries, which burn intensely for a long time, as a result of their petty, sinful actions.
