O twice-born (dvija), a knower of sacred formulas (mantra), one who understands the true nature (tattva) of things, and indeed a physician (vaidya) expert in treatment, (should apply) excellent medicines (auṣadha) that are well-prepared, on auspicious days and at dawn.
