मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-51, verse-120

विद्विष्टो नाशमायाति पुरुषो धर्मतोर्ऽथतः ।
एकस्तु स्वगुणांल्लोके प्रकाशयति पापकृत् ॥१२०॥
120. vidviṣṭo nāśamāyāti puruṣo dharmator'thataḥ .
ekastu svaguṇāṃlloke prakāśayati pāpakṛt.
120. vidviṣṭaḥ nāśam āyāti puruṣaḥ dharmataḥ arthataḥ
ekaḥ tu svaguṇān loke prakāśayati pāpakṛt
120. A man who is hated (by his mother, brother, etc., as mentioned previously) comes to destruction with respect to his natural law (dharma) and material prosperity (artha). But one type (of person, specifically) a wrongdoer (pāpakṛt), reveals his own qualities in the world.
