मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-51, verse-24

तस्यापि रक्षां कुर्वोत जीर्णोपानद्विधारणात् ।
तथापसव्यगमनाच्छाण्डालस्य प्रवेशनात् ॥२४॥
24. tasyāpi rakṣāṃ kurvota jīrṇopānadvidhāraṇāt .
tathāpasavyagamanācchāṇḍālasya praveśanāt.
24. tasya api rakṣām kurvīta jīrṇopānaddvidhāraṇāt
tathā apasavyagamanāt cāṇḍālasya praveśanāt
24. One should also undertake his protection by [abstaining from] wearing worn-out shoes, and similarly, by [avoiding] inauspicious movement and the entry of an outcaste (cāṇḍāla).
