महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-165, verse-53

शोणितेन परिक्लिन्नो रथाद्भूमिमरिंदमः ।
लोहिताङ्ग इवादित्यो दुर्दर्शः समपद्यत ।
एवं तं निहतं संख्ये ददृशे सैनिको जनः ॥५३॥
53. śoṇitena pariklinno rathādbhūmimariṁdamaḥ ,
lohitāṅga ivādityo durdarśaḥ samapadyata ,
evaṁ taṁ nihataṁ saṁkhye dadṛśe sainiko janaḥ.

ariṃdamaḥ lohitāṅgaḥ iva ādityaḥ
durdarśaḥ samapadyata evam tam
nihatam saṃkhye dadṛśe sainikaḥ janaḥ
53. śoṇitena pariklinnaḥ ariṃdamaḥ rathāt bhūmim lohitāṅgaḥ ādityaḥ iva durdarśaḥ samapadyata.
evam nihatam tam saṃkhye sainikaḥ janaḥ dadṛśe.
53. Soaked in blood, the subduer of foes (ariṃdamaḥ) fell from his chariot to the ground. Like the red-limbed sun, he became difficult to behold. Thus, the soldiers saw him slain in battle (saṃkhye).
