महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-186, verse-49

अधर्मिष्ठैरुपायैश्च प्रजा व्यवहरन्त्युत ।
संचयेनापि चाल्पेन भवन्त्याढ्या मदान्विताः ॥४९॥
49. adharmiṣṭhairupāyaiśca prajā vyavaharantyuta ,
saṁcayenāpi cālpena bhavantyāḍhyā madānvitāḥ.
49. adharmiṣṭhaiḥ upāyaiḥ ca prajā vyavaharanti uta
saṃcayena api ca alpena bhavanti āḍhyāḥ madānvitāḥ
49. Indeed, people conduct their affairs through highly unrighteous (adharmiṣṭha) means. Even with a small accumulation of wealth, they become rich and arrogant.
