hanta te kathayiṣyāmi namaskṛtvā svayambhuve ,
puruṣāya purāṇāya śāśvatāyāvyayāya ca.

Mārkaṇḍeya said: "Indeed, I will tell you, after first bowing to the Self-existent One, the ancient (purāṇa) cosmic person (puruṣa), the eternal, and the imperishable."
