मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-34, verse-81

युग्मासु पुत्रा जायन्ते स्त्रियोऽयुग्मासु रात्रिषु ।
तस्माद्युग्मासु पुत्रार्थो संविशेत सदा नरः ॥८१॥
81. yugmāsu putrā jāyante striyo'yugmāsu rātriṣu .
tasmādyugmāsu putrārtho saṃviśeta sadā naraḥ.

tasmāt yugmāsu putrārthaḥ saṃviśeta sadā naraḥ
81. Sons are conceived on even nights, and daughters on odd nights. Therefore, a man who desires a son should always approach (his wife) on even nights.
