मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-34, verse-7

यज्ञदानतपांसीह पुरुषस्य च भूतये ।
भवन्ति यः सदाचारं समुल्लङ्घ्य प्रवर्तते ॥७॥
7. yajñadānatapāṃsīha puruṣasya ca bhūtaye .
bhavanti yaḥ sadācāraṃ samullaṅghya pravartate.
7. yajñadānatapāṃsi iha puruṣasya ca bhūtaye
bhavanti yaḥ sadācāram samullaṅghya pravartate
7. Sacrifices (yajña), acts of charity (dāna), and austerities (tapas) are for a person's (puruṣa) welfare in this world; but this is not the case for one who acts by completely transgressing good conduct (dharma).
