मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-34, verse-75

शिरः स्नातश्च कुर्वोत दैवं पैत्र्यमथापि वा ।
प्राङ्मुखोदङ्मुखो वापि श्मश्रुकर्म च कारयेत् ॥७५॥
75. śiraḥ snātaśca kurvota daivaṃ paitryamathāpi vā .
prāṅmukhodaṅmukho vāpi śmaśrukarma ca kārayet.
75. śiraḥ snātaḥ ca kurvota daivam paitryam athāpi vā
prāṅmukhaḥ udaṅmukhaḥ vā api śmaśrukarmam ca kārayet
75. After bathing one's head, one should perform either divine or ancestral rites. Whether facing east or north, one should also have his beard groomed.
