मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-34, verse-8

दुराचारो हि पुरुषो नेहायुर्विन्दते महत् ।
कार्यो यत्नः सदाचारे आचारो हन्त्यलक्षणम् ॥८॥
8. durācāro hi puruṣo nehāyurvindate mahat .
kāryo yatnaḥ sadācāre ācāro hantyalakṣaṇam.
8. durācāraḥ hi puruṣaḥ na iha āyuḥ vindate mahat
| kāryaḥ yatnaḥ sadācāre ācāraḥ hanti alakṣaṇam
8. Indeed, a person (puruṣa) of bad conduct does not attain a long life in this world. Therefore, effort should be made in good conduct (dharma), for good conduct (dharma) destroys inauspicious signs.
