मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-23, verse-33

अक्षरं परमं ब्रह्म विश्वञ्चैतत् क्षरात्मकम् ।
दारुण्यवस्थितो वह्निर्भौमाश्च परमाणवः ॥३३॥
33. akṣaraṃ paramaṃ brahma viśvañcaitat kṣarātmakam .
dāruṇyavasthito vahnirbhaumāśca paramāṇavaḥ.
33. akṣaram paramam brahma viśvam ca etat kṣarātmakam
dāruṇi avasthitaḥ vahniḥ bhaumāḥ ca paramāṇavaḥ
33. The supreme imperishable (brahman) is the ultimate reality, and this universe (jagat), in contrast, is perishable in nature. Just as fire resides within wood, so too do earthly atoms exist (as its constituents).
