महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-17, verse-89

व्यायुधं चैनमालक्ष्य शरैः संनतपर्वभिः ।
आर्दयद्बहुशः कर्णो न चैनं समपीडयत् ॥८९॥
89. vyāyudhaṁ cainamālakṣya śaraiḥ saṁnataparvabhiḥ ,
ārdayadbahuśaḥ karṇo na cainaṁ samapīḍayat.

ārdayat bahuśaḥ karṇaḥ na ca enam samapīḍayat

89. Seeing him disarmed, Karṇa repeatedly tormented him with swift, sharp-pointed arrows, yet he did not completely overwhelm him.
