महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-5, verse-43

कच्चिद्विद्याविनीतांश्च नराञ्ज्ञानविशारदान् ।
यथार्हं गुणतश्चैव दानेनाभ्यवपद्यसे ॥४३॥
43. kaccidvidyāvinītāṁśca narāñjñānaviśāradān ,
yathārhaṁ guṇataścaiva dānenābhyavapadyase.

43. I trust that you honor, with fitting gifts (dāna), those men who are cultured through learning and skilled in wisdom, according to their merits and qualities.
