महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-5, verse-24

कच्चित्सहस्रैर्मूर्खाणामेकं क्रीणासि पण्डितम् ।
पण्डितो ह्यर्थकृच्छ्रेषु कुर्यान्निःश्रेयसं परम् ॥२४॥

24. kaccitsahasrairmūrkhāṇāmekaṁ krīṇāsi paṇḍitam ,
paṇḍito hyarthakṛcchreṣu kuryānniḥśreyasaṁ param.

24. kaccit sahasraiḥ mūrkhāṇām ekam krīṇāsi paṇḍitam |
paṇḍitaḥ hi arthakṛcchreṣu kuryāt niḥśreyasam param

24. I hope that you would acquire one wise person (paṇḍita) in exchange for a thousand fools. Indeed, a wise person (paṇḍita) can achieve the supreme benefit (niḥśreyasa) in times of financial or circumstantial difficulty.

24. האם אתה רוכש חכם אחד תמורת אלפי טיפשים? כי החכם יוכל להשיג את הטוב הנעלה ביותר בשעת קושי בענייני הממלכה.
