एवमस्य धनूंष्याजौ चिच्छेद सुबहून्यपि ।
ततः शांतनवो भीष्मो बीभत्सुं नाभ्यवर्तत ॥४९॥

49. In this manner, Arjuna cut off many of Bhishma's bows in battle. Consequently, Bhishma (Śāntanava) then ceased to attack Arjuna (Bībhatsu).
