महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-114, verse-40

इति देवगणानां च श्रुत्वा वाक्यं महामनाः ।
ततः शांतनवो भीष्मो बीभत्सुं नाभ्यवर्तत ।
भिद्यमानः शितैर्बाणैः सर्वावरणभेदिभिः ॥४०॥
40. iti devagaṇānāṁ ca śrutvā vākyaṁ mahāmanāḥ ,
tataḥ śāṁtanavo bhīṣmo bībhatsuṁ nābhyavartata ,
bhidyamānaḥ śitairbāṇaiḥ sarvāvaraṇabhedibhiḥ.
40. iti devagaṇānām ca śrutvā vākyam
mahāmanāḥ tataḥ śāntanavaḥ bhīṣmaḥ
bībhatsum na abhyavartata bhidyamānaḥ
śitaiḥ bāṇaiḥ sarvāvaraṇabhedibhiḥ

40. Having heard these words of the hosts of gods, the great-souled Bhishma, son of Shantanu, then did not turn to resist Arjuna (Bibhatsu), even as he was being pierced by sharp arrows that penetrated all armor.
