महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-114, verse-12

शिखण्डी तु रणे बाणान्यान्मुमोच महाव्रते ।
ते भीष्मं विविशुस्तूर्णं स्वर्णपुङ्खाः शिलाशिताः ॥१२॥
12. śikhaṇḍī tu raṇe bāṇānyānmumoca mahāvrate ,
te bhīṣmaṁ viviśustūrṇaṁ svarṇapuṅkhāḥ śilāśitāḥ.
12. śikhaṇḍī tu raṇe bāṇān yān mumoca mahāvrate te
bhīṣmam viviśuḥ tūrṇam svarṇapuṅkhāḥ śilāśitāḥ
12. tu śikhaṇḍī raṇe yān bāṇān mahāvrate mumoca,
te svarṇapuṅkhāḥ śilāśitāḥ tūrṇam bhīṣmam viviśuḥ
12. But Shikhandi, in battle, released those arrows at the one of great vow (Bhishma). Those arrows, with golden shafts and sharpened on stone, quickly penetrated Bhishma.
