महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-83, verse-52

मेधाविकं समासाद्य पितॄन्देवांश्च तर्पयेत् ।
अग्निष्टोममवाप्नोति स्मृतिं मेधां च विन्दति ॥५२॥
52. medhāvikaṁ samāsādya pitṝndevāṁśca tarpayet ,
agniṣṭomamavāpnoti smṛtiṁ medhāṁ ca vindati.

agniṣṭomam avāpnoti smṛtim medhām ca vindati

52. Having reached Medhāvika, one should propitiate the ancestors and the gods. Such a person obtains the fruit of the Agniṣṭoma Vedic ritual (yajña), and also gains good memory and sharp intelligence (medhā).
