महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-83, verse-6

ततो वैतरणीं गत्वा नदीं पापप्रमोचनीम् ।
विरजं तीर्थमासाद्य विराजति यथा शशी ॥६॥
6. tato vaitaraṇīṁ gatvā nadīṁ pāpapramocanīm ,
virajaṁ tīrthamāsādya virājati yathā śaśī.

virajam tīrtham āsādya virājati yathā śaśī
6. Thereafter, having gone to the Vaitaraṇī river, which liberates from sin, and having reached the stainless (viraja) sacred bathing place (tīrtha), one shines like the moon.
