महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-83, verse-20

ततो गच्छेत कावेरीं वृतामप्सरसां गणैः ।
तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन्गोसहस्रफलं लभेत् ॥२०॥
20. tato gaccheta kāverīṁ vṛtāmapsarasāṁ gaṇaiḥ ,
tatra snātvā naro rājangosahasraphalaṁ labhet.
20. tataḥ gaccheta kāverīm vṛtām apsarasām gaṇaiḥ
tatra snātvā naraḥ rājan gosahasraphalam labhet
20. Then, O King, one should go to the Kaveri River, which is surrounded by hosts of Apsaras. Having bathed there, a person obtains the merit of donating a thousand cows.
