महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-83, verse-5

गङ्गायास्त्वपरं द्वीपं प्राप्य यः स्नाति भारत ।
त्रिरात्रोपोषितो राजन्सर्वकामानवाप्नुयात् ॥५॥
5. gaṅgāyāstvaparaṁ dvīpaṁ prāpya yaḥ snāti bhārata ,
trirātropoṣito rājansarvakāmānavāpnuyāt.
5. gaṅgāyāḥ tu aparam dvīpam prāpya yaḥ snāti bhārata
trirātra-upoṣitaḥ rājan sarva-kāmān avāpnuyāt
5. O Bhārata, O king, whoever reaches another island of the Gaṅgā, fasts for three nights, and then bathes, will attain all his desires.
