महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-83, verse-27

निदर्शनं च प्रत्यक्षं ब्राह्मणानां नराधिप ।
गायत्रीं पठते यस्तु योनिसंकरजस्तथा ।
गाथा वा गीतिका वापि तस्य संपद्यते नृप ॥२७॥
27. nidarśanaṁ ca pratyakṣaṁ brāhmaṇānāṁ narādhipa ,
gāyatrīṁ paṭhate yastu yonisaṁkarajastathā ,
gāthā vā gītikā vāpi tasya saṁpadyate nṛpa.
27. nidarśanam ca pratyakṣam brāhmaṇānām
narādhipa gāyatrīm paṭhate yaḥ
tu yonisaṃkarajaḥ tathā gāthā vā
gītikā vā api tasya saṃpadyate nṛpa
27. O king, this is a direct and observable example among brahmins. Indeed, for one who is born of mixed parentage and recites the Gāyatrī (mantra), it becomes a sacred verse or song for them.
