महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-83, verse-7

प्रभवेच्च कुले पुण्ये सर्वपापं व्यपोहति ।
गोसहस्रफलं लब्ध्वा पुनाति च कुलं नरः ॥७॥

7. And if a man is born in a meritorious family, he removes all sins. Having obtained the reward of [donating] a thousand cows, he purifies his family.
