यदा न स्पन्दते प्राणः शिरासरणिकोटरे ।
असंवित्तिवशात्तेन चित्तमन्तर्न जायते ॥ १६ ॥

16. When the vital breath (prāṇa) does not pulsate within the inner cavity of the network of subtle channels (śirā-saraṇi-koṭara), then, due to the absence of perception (asaṃvitti), consciousness (citta) does not manifest internally.
