Just as Vṛtra was slain by Mahendra (Indra), and Rāvaṇa by Rāma; and just as the demon Mura, who was brought down in battle, was killed by Kṛṣṇa; similarly, Kārtavīrya was slain by Rāma, the descendant of Bhṛgu.
