महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-112, verse-84

ततो गर्भशतैर्जन्तुर्बहुभिः संप्रजायते ।
संसारांश्च बहून्गत्वा ततस्तिर्यक्प्रजायते ॥८४॥

84. tato garbhaśatairjanturbahubhiḥ saṁprajāyate ,
saṁsārāṁśca bahūngatvā tatastiryakprajāyate.

84. Then, the living being is born repeatedly through many hundreds of wombs. And after passing through many cycles of existence (saṃsāra), it is then born as an animal.
