महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-281, verse-51

सावित्र्युवाच ।
न तेऽपवर्गः सुकृताद्विनाकृतस्तथा यथान्येषु वरेषु मानद ।
वरं वृणे जीवतु सत्यवानयं यथा मृता ह्येवमहं विना पतिम् ॥५१॥
51. sāvitryuvāca ,
na te'pavargaḥ sukṛtādvinākṛta;stathā yathānyeṣu vareṣu mānada ,
varaṁ vṛṇe jīvatu satyavānayaṁ; yathā mṛtā hyevamahaṁ vinā patim.
51. sāvitrī uvāca na te apavargaḥ sukṛtāt
vinākṛtaḥ tathā yathā anyeṣu vareṣu
mānada varam vṛṇe jīvatu satyavān
ayam yathā mṛtā hi evam aham vinā patim
51. Savitri said: 'O bestower of honor, the fulfillment of your merit from good deeds is not complete without granting a boon, just as is the case with other boons. I choose this boon: let Satyavan live, for without my husband, I am truly like one dead.'
