महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-173, verse-54

न शक्तस्तानि मघवान्भेत्तुं सर्वायुधैरपि ।
अथ सर्वेऽमरा रुद्रं जग्मुः शरणमर्दिताः ॥५४॥
54. na śaktastāni maghavānbhettuṁ sarvāyudhairapi ,
atha sarve'marā rudraṁ jagmuḥ śaraṇamarditāḥ.
54. na śaktaḥ tāni maghavān bhettuṃ sarvāyudhaiḥ api
| atha sarve amarāḥ rudraṃ jagmuḥ śaraṇam arditāḥ
54. maghavān na api sarvāyudhaiḥ tāni bhettuṃ śaktaḥ (āsīt).
atha sarve arditāḥ amarāḥ rudraṃ śaraṇam jagmuḥ.
54. Even Indra (Maghavan) was not capable of destroying those (cities) with all his weapons. Then, all the afflicted immortals went to Rudra for refuge.
