महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-47, verse-76

जानन्तोऽस्य प्रकृतिं केशवस्य न्ययोजयन्दस्युवधाय कृष्णम् ।
स तत्कर्म प्रतिशुश्राव दुष्करमैश्वर्यवान्सिद्धिषु वासुदेवः ॥७६॥
76. jānanto'sya prakṛtiṁ keśavasya; nyayojayandasyuvadhāya kṛṣṇam ,
sa tatkarma pratiśuśrāva duṣkara;maiśvaryavānsiddhiṣu vāsudevaḥ.

sa tat karma pratiśuśrāva duṣkaram
aiśvaryavān siddhiṣu vāsudevaḥ
76. Knowing his intrinsic nature (prakṛti), they assigned Kṛṣṇa, the controller of the senses (keśava), to destroy the rogues. That Vāsudeva, endowed with divine power (aiśvarya) in his accomplishments (siddhi), promised to undertake that difficult task.
