प्रवृत्तं वा निवृत्तं वा कर्तव्यं च न वा प्रभो ।
श्रीवाल्मीकिरुवाच ।
तस्माद्यन्न कृते दोषस्तत्कर्तव्यं मुमुक्षुभिः ॥ ४४ ॥

tasmādyanna kṛte doṣastatkartavyaṃ mumukṣubhiḥ 44

44. prabho pravṛttam vā nivṛttam vā kartavyam ca na vā śrīvālmīkiḥ
uvāca tasmāt yat kṛte na doṣaḥ tat mumukṣubhiḥ kartavyam

44. O Lord, there is a question whether an action should be undertaken (pravṛttam) or renounced (nivṛttam), or whether something should be done or not. Sri Valmiki said: Therefore, that which incurs no fault when performed should be done by those who desire liberation (mokṣa).
