योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-6, chapter-128, verse-3

प्राणायामं ततः कुर्यादन्तःकरणशुद्धये ।
इन्द्रियाण्याहरेत्पश्चाद्विषयेभ्यः शनैःशनैः ॥ ३ ॥
prāṇāyāmaṃ tataḥ kuryādantaḥkaraṇaśuddhaye ,
indriyāṇyāharetpaścādviṣayebhyaḥ śanaiḥśanaiḥ 3
3. prāṇāyāmam tataḥ kuryāt antaḥkaraṇaśuddhaye
indriyāṇi āharet paścāt viṣayebhyaḥ śanaiḥ śanaiḥ
3. tataḥ antaḥkaraṇaśuddhaye prāṇāyāmam kuryāt.
paścāt indriyāṇi viṣayebhyaḥ śanaiḥ śanaiḥ āharet.
3. Thereafter, one should perform breath control (prāṇāyāma) for the purification of the inner instrument (antaḥkaraṇa). Afterwards, one should gradually withdraw the senses from their objects.
