अथाऽहं सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि कारकांशफलं द्विज ।
मेषादिराशिगे स्वांशे यथावद् ब्रह्मभाषितम् ॥१॥

Now, O twice-born (dvija), I will fully explain the results pertaining to the kārakāṃśa (the Navamsha sign of the ātmakāraka), as it was properly declared by Brahma, when the ātmakāraka is in its own Aṃśa (Navamsha sign) within the zodiac signs starting from Aries.
