अथाऽहं सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि कारकांशफलं द्विज ।
मेषादिराशिगे स्वांशे यथावद् ब्रह्मभाषितम् ॥१॥
1. athā'haṃ sampravakṣyāmi kārakāṃśaphalaṃ dvija .
meṣādirāśige svāṃśe yathāvad brahmabhāṣitam.

1. Now, O twice-born (dvija), I will fully explain the results pertaining to the kārakāṃśa (the Navamsha sign of the ātmakāraka), as it was properly declared by Brahma, when the ātmakāraka is in its own Aṃśa (Navamsha sign) within the zodiac signs starting from Aries.
गृहे मूषकमार्जारा मेषांशे ह्वात्मकारके ।
सदा भयप्रदा विप्र पापयुक्ते विशेषतः ॥२॥
2. gṛhe mūṣakamārjārā meṣāṃśe hvātmakārake .
sadā bhayapradā vipra pāpayukte viśeṣataḥ.

sadā bhayapradāḥ vipra pāpayukte viśeṣataḥ
2. O Brahmin (vipra), when the ātmakāraka is in the Aries Navamsha, mice and cats in the house always cause fear, especially when [the ātmakāraka or Aries Navamsha] is associated with malefic planets.
वृषांशकगते स्वस्मिन् सुखदाश्च चतुष्पदाः ।
मिथुनांशगते तस्मिन् कण्ड्वादिव्याधिसम्भवः ॥३॥
3. vṛṣāṃśakagate svasmin sukhadāśca catuṣpadāḥ .
mithunāṃśagate tasmin kaṇḍvādivyādhisambhavaḥ.

3. When the ātmakāraka is situated in the Taurus Navamsha, quadrupeds are beneficial. And when it is situated in the Gemini Navamsha, there is a possibility of diseases such as itching.
कर्कांशे च जलाद्भीतिः सिम्हांशे श्वपदाद्भयम् ।
कण्डूः स्थौल्यञ्च कन्यांशे तथा वह्निकणाद्भयम् ॥४॥
4. karkāṃśe ca jalādbhītiḥ simhāṃśe śvapadādbhayam .
kaṇḍūḥ sthaulyañca kanyāṃśe tathā vahnikaṇādbhayam.

4. When [the ātmakāraka is] in Cancer Navamsha, there is fear from water. And when in Leo Navamsha, there is fear from dogs or beasts. In Virgo Navamsha, there is itching and obesity, and similarly, fear from fire or sparks.
तुलांशे च वणिग् जातो वस्रादिनिर्मितौ पटुः ।
अल्यंशे सर्पतो भीतिः पीडा मातुः पयोधरे ॥५॥
5. tulāṃśe ca vaṇig jāto vasrādinirmitau paṭuḥ .
alyaṃśe sarpato bhītiḥ pīḍā mātuḥ payodhare.
5. tulā aṃśe ca vaṇik jātaḥ vastrādinirmitau paṭuḥ
ali aṃśe sarpataḥ bhītiḥ pīḍā mātuḥ payodhare
5. When [the ātmakāraka is] in Libra Navamsha, one is born as a merchant and is skilled in manufacturing clothes and similar items. In Scorpio Navamsha, there is fear from snakes and pain in the mother's breast.
धनुरंशे क्रमादुच्चात् पतनं वाहनादपि ।
मरकांशे जलोद्भूतैर्जन्तुभिः खेचरस्तथा ॥६॥
6. dhanuraṃśe kramāduccāt patanaṃ vāhanādapi .
marakāṃśe jalodbhūtairjantubhiḥ khecarastathā.
6. dhanuḥ aṃśe kramāt uccāt patanam vāhanāt api
maraka aṃśe jalodbhūtaiḥ jantubhiḥ khecaraḥ tathā
6. If born in the Sagittarius (dhanu) *amsha*, there will be a fall from a height or even from a vehicle, in due course. If born in the Maraka (destroyer) *amsha*, the native (khecara) will face danger from creatures born in water.
शंखमुक्ताप्रवालाद्यैर्लाभो भवति निश्चितः ।
कुम्भांशे च तडागादिकारको जायते जनः ॥७॥
7. śaṃkhamuktāpravālādyairlābho bhavati niścitaḥ .
kumbhāṃśe ca taḍāgādikārako jāyate janaḥ.
7. śaṅkhamuktāpravālādyaiḥ lābhaḥ bhavati niścitaḥ
kumbha aṃśe ca taḍāgādikārakaḥ jāyate janaḥ
7. There will certainly be gain from conches, pearls, corals, and similar items. If born in the Aquarius (kumbha) *amsha*, the native becomes one who creates or maintains tanks and other water bodies.
मीनांशे कारके जातो मुक्तिभाग् द्विजसत्तम ।
नाऽशुभं शुभसंदृष्टे न शुभं पापवीक्षिते ॥८॥
8. mīnāṃśe kārake jāto muktibhāg dvijasattama .
nā'śubhaṃ śubhasaṃdṛṣṭe na śubhaṃ pāpavīkṣite.
8. mīna aṃśe kārake jātaḥ mukti bhāg dvija sattama
na aśubham śubha saṃdṛṣṭe na śubham pāpa vīkṣite
8. O best among Brahmins (dvijasattama)! If a significator (kāraka) is in the Pisces (mīna) *amsha*, the native (jātaḥ) becomes a recipient of final liberation (mokṣa). (A particular planetary indication) is not inauspicious if aspected by an auspicious planet, nor is it auspicious if aspected by a malefic planet.
कारकांशे शुभे विप्र लग्नांशे च शुभग्रहे ।
शुभसंवीक्षिते जातो राजा भवति निश्चितः ॥९॥
9. kārakāṃśe śubhe vipra lagnāṃśe ca śubhagrahe .
śubhasaṃvīkṣite jāto rājā bhavati niścitaḥ.
9. kāraka aṃśe śubhe vipra lagna aṃśe ca śubha grahe
śubha saṃvīkṣite jātaḥ rājā bhavati niścitaḥ
9. O Brahmin (vipra)! If the *kāraka* (significator) *amsha* is auspicious, and there is an auspicious planet (śubhagraha) in the *lagna* (ascendant) *amsha* which is also aspected by an auspicious planet, then the native certainly becomes a king.
स्वांशाच्छुभग्रहाः केन्द्रे कोणे वा पापवर्जिताः ।
धनविद्यायुतो जातो मिश्रैर्मिश्रफलं वदेद् ॥१०॥
10. svāṃśācchubhagrahāḥ kendre koṇe vā pāpavarjitāḥ .
dhanavidyāyuto jāto miśrairmiśraphalaṃ vaded.
10. sva aṃśāt śubha grahāḥ kendre koṇe vā pāpa varjitāḥ
dhana vidyā yutaḥ jātaḥ miśraiḥ miśra phalam vadet
10. If auspicious planets (śubhagraha) are in a *kendra* (angular house) or a *koṇa* (trinal house) from one's own *amsha*, and they are free from malefic influence (pāpavarjita), then the native is born endowed with wealth and knowledge. If there are mixed influences, one should declare mixed results.
उपग्रहे च विप्रेन्द्र स्वोच्चस्वर्क्षंसुभर्क्षगे ।
पापदृग्रहिते चाऽन्त्ये कैवल्यंतस्य निर्दिशेत् ॥११॥
11. upagrahe ca viprendra svoccasvarkṣaṃsubharkṣage .
pāpadṛgrahite cā'ntye kaivalyaṃtasya nirdiśet.

11. O foremost of Brahmins, if an upagraha (subsidiary planet) is situated in its own sign of exaltation, its own sign, or a friendly sign, and is devoid of malefic aspect, and also in the twelfth house, then one should declare that person attains final liberation (kaivalya).
चन्द्राऽरभृगुवर्गस्थ कारके पारदारिकः ।
विपर्यस्थेऽन्यथा ज्ञेयं फलं सर्वं विचक्षणैः ॥१२॥
12. candrā'rabhṛguvargastha kārake pāradārikaḥ .
viparyasthe'nyathā jñeyaṃ phalaṃ sarvaṃ vicakṣaṇaiḥ.
12. candrārabhrguvargastha kārake pāradārikaḥ
viparyasthe anyathā jñeyam phalam sarvam vicakṣaṇaiḥ
12. When the significator (kāraka) is situated in the divisional chart (varga) of the Moon, Mars, or Venus, the person becomes an adulterer. If this condition is reversed, then all results should be understood to be otherwise by the wise.
कारकांशे रवौ जातो राजकार्यपरो द्विज ।
पूर्णेन्द्रौ भोगवान् विद्वान् शुक्रदृष्टे विशेषतः ॥१३॥
13. kārakāṃśe ravau jāto rājakāryaparo dvija .
pūrṇendrau bhogavān vidvān śukradṛṣṭe viśeṣataḥ.
13. kārakāmśe ravau jātaḥ rājakāryaparaḥ dvija
pūrṇendau bhogavān vidvān śukradṛṣṭe viśeṣataḥ
13. O Brahmin, if the Sun is in the Kāraka Amśa (the Navamśa occupied by the Kāraka planet), the native will be dedicated to government work. If the full Moon (pūrṇendu) is in the Kāraka Amśa, the person will enjoy comforts and be learned, especially if aspected by Venus (śukra).
स्वांशे बलयुते भौमे जातः कन्तायुघी भवेत् ।
वह्निजीवी नरो वाऽपि रसवादी च जायते ॥१४॥
14. svāṃśe balayute bhaume jātaḥ kantāyughī bhavet .
vahnijīvī naro vā'pi rasavādī ca jāyate.
14. svāmśe balayute bhaume jātaḥ kantāyudhī bhavet
vahnijīvī naraḥ vā api rasavādī ca jāyate
14. If Mars (bhauma) is strong in its own Amśa (Navamśa), the native becomes a warrior or a man who earns his livelihood through fire-related work, or also an alchemist (rasavādī).
बुधे बलयुते स्वांशे कलाशिल्पविचक्षनः ।
वाणिज्यकुशलश्चापि बुद्धिविद्यासमन्वितः ॥१५॥
15. budhe balayute svāṃśe kalāśilpavicakṣanaḥ .
vāṇijyakuśalaścāpi buddhividyāsamanvitaḥ.
15. budhe balayute svāmśe kalāśilpavicakṣaṇaḥ
vāṇijyakuśalaḥ ca api buddhividyāsamanvitaḥ
15. If Mercury (budha) is strong in its own Amśa (Navamśa), the native will be expert in arts and crafts, skilled in commerce, and endowed with intelligence and knowledge.
सुकर्मा ज्ञाननिष्ठश्च वेदवित् स्वांशगे गुरौ ।
शुक्रे शतेन्द्रियः कामी राजकीतो भवेन्नरः ॥१६॥
16. sukarmā jñānaniṣṭhaśca vedavit svāṃśage gurau .
śukre śatendriyaḥ kāmī rājakīto bhavennaraḥ.
16. sukarman jñānaniṣṭhaḥ ca vedavit svāṃśage gurau
śukre śatendriyaḥ kāmī rājakītaḥ bhavet naraḥ
16. When Jupiter (guru) is in its own Aṃśa (varga), a person becomes virtuous, devoted to knowledge, and a knower of the Vedas. If Venus (śukra) is in its own Aṃśa, the person will be very sensual, desirous, and associated with royalty.
शनौ स्वांशगते जातः स्वकुलोचितकर्मकृत् ।
राहौ चौरश्च धनुष्को जातो वा लोहयन्त्रकृत् ॥१७॥
17. śanau svāṃśagate jātaḥ svakulocitakarmakṛt .
rāhau cauraśca dhanuṣko jāto vā lohayantrakṛt.
17. śanau svāṃśagate jātaḥ svakulocitakarmakṛt
rāhau cauraḥ ca dhanuṣkaḥ jātaḥ vā lohayantrakṛt
17. When Saturn (śani) is in its own Aṃśa (varga), the person born will perform actions (karma) appropriate to their family. If Rahu is in its own Aṃśa, the native will be a thief, or an archer, or a maker of iron instruments.
विषवैद्योऽथवा विप्र जायते नाऽत्र संशयः ।
व्ययहारी गजादीनां केतौ चौरश्च जायते ॥१८॥
18. viṣavaidyo'thavā vipra jāyate nā'tra saṃśayaḥ .
vyayahārī gajādīnāṃ ketau cauraśca jāyate.
18. viṣavaidyaḥ athavā vipraḥ jāyate na atra saṃśayaḥ
vyayahārī gajādīnām ketau cauraḥ ca jāyate
18. Or the person becomes a poison healer or a Brahmin; there is no doubt about this. If Ketu is in its own Aṃśa, the native becomes a thief and deals in elephants and similar animals.
रविराहू यदा स्वांशे सर्पाद् भीतिः प्रजायते ।
शुभदृष्टौ भयं नैव पापदृष्टौ मृतिभवेत् ॥१९॥
19. ravirāhū yadā svāṃśe sarpād bhītiḥ prajāyate .
śubhadṛṣṭau bhayaṃ naiva pāpadṛṣṭau mṛtibhavet.
19. ravirāhū yadā svāṃśe sarpāt bhītiḥ prajāyate
śubhadr̥ṣṭau bhayam na eva pāpadr̥ṣṭau mṛtiḥ bhavet
19. When the Sun (ravi) and Rahu are in their own Aṃśa (varga), fear from snakes arises. If they are aspected by benefics, there is no fear. However, if they are aspected by malefics, death may occur.
शुभषड्वर्गसंयुक्तौ विषवैद्यो भवेन् तदा ।
भौमेक्षिते कारकांशे भानुस्वर्भानुसंयुते ॥२०॥
20. śubhaṣaḍvargasaṃyuktau viṣavaidyo bhaven tadā .
bhaumekṣite kārakāṃśe bhānusvarbhānusaṃyute.
20. śubhaṣaḍvargasaṃyuktau viṣavaidyaḥ bhavet tadā
bhaumekṣite kārakāṃśe bhānusvarbhānusaṃyute
20. If (Sun and Rahu) are joined with benefic ṣaḍvargas, then the person becomes a poison healer. This also applies when the Kāraka Aṃśa is aspected by Mars (bhauma), and the Sun (bhānu) and Rahu (svarbhānu) are conjoined.
अन्यग्र्हा न पश्यन्ति स्ववेश्मपरदाहकः ।
तस्मिन् बुधेक्षि ते चापि वह्निदो नैव जायते ॥२१॥
21. anyagrhā na paśyanti svaveśmaparadāhakaḥ .
tasmin budhekṣi te cāpi vahnido naiva jāyate.
21. anyagrahrāḥ na paśyanti svaveśmaparadāhakaḥ
tasmin budhekṣi te ca api vahṇidaḥ na eva jāyate
21. Other planets (grahas) do not cause a person to burn his own and others' homes. However, when such a destructive planetary combination is aspected by Mercury (Budha), then even those (malefic planetary influences) do not lead to the birth of an arsonist.
पापर्क्षे गुरुणा दृष्टे समीपगृहदाहकः ।
शुक्रदृष्टे तु विप्रेन्द्र गृहदाहो न जायते ॥२२॥
22. pāparkṣe guruṇā dṛṣṭe samīpagṛhadāhakaḥ .
śukradṛṣṭe tu viprendra gṛhadāho na jāyate.
22. pāparkṣe guruṇā dṛṣṭe samīpagṛhadāhakaḥ
śukradṛṣṭe tu viprendra gṛhadāhaḥ na jāyate
22. When (the relevant house/planet) is in a malefic sign or house (pāparkṣe) and aspected by Jupiter (Guru), one becomes an arsonist of neighboring houses. But, O best of brahmins (viprendra), if aspected by Venus (Śukra), house burning (gṛhadāha) does not occur.
गुलिकेन युते स्वांशे पूर्णचन्द्रेण वीक्षिते ।
चौरैर्हृतधनो जातः स्वयं चौरोऽथवा भवेत् ॥२३॥
23. gulikena yute svāṃśe pūrṇacandreṇa vīkṣite .
caurairhṛtadhano jātaḥ svayaṃ cauro'thavā bhavet.
23. gulikena yute svāṃśe pūrṇacandreṇa vīkṣite cauraiḥ
hṛtadhanaḥ jātaḥ svayam cauraḥ athavā bhavet
23. When (the relevant planet or house) is joined with Gulika in its own navāṃśa (aṃśa), and aspected by a full Moon, the native becomes one whose wealth is stolen by thieves, or he himself may become a thief.
गृहादृष्टे सगुलिके विपदो वा विषैर्हतः ।
बुधदृष्टे बृहद्वीजो जायते नाऽत्र संशयः ॥२४॥
24. gṛhādṛṣṭe sagulike vipado vā viṣairhataḥ .
budhadṛṣṭe bṛhadvījo jāyate nā'tra saṃśayaḥ.
24. gṛhāt adṛṣṭe sa-gulike vipadaḥ vā viṣaiḥ hataḥ
budhadṛṣṭe bṛhadvījaḥ jāyate na atra saṃśayaḥ
24. When (the relevant house or planet) is un-aspected by a house lord (gṛhāt adṛṣṭe) and joined with Gulika, misfortunes (vipadaḥ) occur, or the native is killed by poisons. If aspected by Mercury (Budha), the native has great progeny (bṛhadvīja). There is no doubt about this.
सकेतौ कारकांशे च पापदृष्टे द्विजोत्तम ।
जातस्य कर्णरोगो वा कर्णच्छेदः प्रजायते ॥२५॥
25. saketau kārakāṃśe ca pāpadṛṣṭe dvijottama .
jātasya karṇarogo vā karṇacchedaḥ prajāyate.
25. sa-ketau kārakāṃśe ca pāpa-dṛṣṭe dvijottama
jātasya karṇarogaḥ vā karṇacchedaḥ prajāyate
25. O best of brahmins (dvijottama), if the kārakāṃśa (a specific divisional chart related to the significator planet) is with Ketu and aspected by a malefic planet, then for the native (jātasya), either an ear disease or ear amputation (karṇaccheda) occurs.
भृगुपुत्रेक्षिते तस्मिन् दीक्षितो जायते जनः ।
बुधार्किदृष्टे निर्वीर्यो जायते मानवो ध्रुवम् ॥२६॥
26. bhṛguputrekṣite tasmin dīkṣito jāyate janaḥ .
budhārkidṛṣṭe nirvīryo jāyate mānavo dhruvam.
26. bhṛguputra-īkṣite tasmin dīkṣitaḥ jāyate janaḥ |
budha-arki-dṛṣṭe nir-vīryaḥ jāyate mānavaḥ dhruvam
26. If that (Kāraka-Aṃśa) is aspected by Venus, the person born becomes initiated (dīkṣita). If it is aspected by Mercury and Saturn, the human being certainly becomes impotent or powerless.
बुधशुक्रेक्षिते तस्मिन् दासीपुत्रः प्रजायते ।
पुनर्भवासुतो वाऽपि जायते नाऽत्र संशयः ॥२७॥
27. budhaśukrekṣite tasmin dāsīputraḥ prajāyate .
punarbhavāsuto vā'pi jāyate nā'tra saṃśayaḥ.
27. budha-śukra-īkṣite tasmin dāsīputraḥ pra-jāyate
| punarbhavā-sutaḥ vā api jāyate na atra saṃśayaḥ
27. If that (Kāraka-Aṃśa) is aspected by Mercury and Venus, a son of a maidservant is born. Or, a son of a remarried woman is born; there is no doubt about this.
तपस्वी सनिना दृष्टे जातः प्रेष्योऽथवा भवेत् ।
शनिमात्रेक्षिते तस्मिन् जातः संन्यासिवेषवान् ॥२८॥
28. tapasvī saninā dṛṣṭe jātaḥ preṣyo'thavā bhavet .
śanimātrekṣite tasmin jātaḥ saṃnyāsiveṣavān.
28. tapasvī saninā dṛṣṭe jātaḥ preṣyaḥ athavā bhavet
| śani-mātra-īkṣite tasmin jātaḥ saṃnyāsi-veṣavān
28. If (the Kāraka-Aṃśa) is aspected by Saturn, the person born may become an ascetic (tapasvī) or a servant. If that (Kāraka-Aṃśa) is aspected by Saturn alone, the person born will have the attire of a renunciate (saṃnyāsin).
रविसुक्रेक्षिते तस्मिन् राजप्रेष्यो जनो भवेत् ।
इतिसंक्षेपतः प्रोक्तं कारकांशफलं द्विज ॥२९॥
29. ravisukrekṣite tasmin rājapreṣyo jano bhavet .
itisaṃkṣepataḥ proktaṃ kārakāṃśaphalaṃ dvija.
29. ravi-śukra-īkṣite tasmin rāja-preṣyaḥ janaḥ bhavet
| iti saṃkṣepataḥ proktam kāraka-aṃśa-phalam dvija
29. If that (Kāraka-Aṃśa) is aspected by the Sun and Venus, the person becomes a servant of the king. O twice-born (dvija), thus have the results of Kāraka-Aṃśa been concisely explained.
स्वांशाद्धने च शुक्रारवर्गे स्यात् पारदारिकः ।
तयोर्दृग्योगतो ज्ञेयमिदमामरणं फलम् ॥३०॥
30. svāṃśāddhane ca śukrāravarge syāt pāradārikaḥ .
tayordṛgyogato jñeyamidamāmaraṇaṃ phalam.
30. sva-aṃśāt dhane ca śukra-ara-varge syāt pāradārikaḥ
| tayoḥ dṛk-yogataḥ jñeyam idam ā-maraṇam phalam
30. If Venus and Mars are in the second house from the Svāṃśa (Kāraka-Aṃśa), and also in their respective Vargas (divisional charts), then the person becomes an adulterer (pāradārika). This outcome, discernible through their aspect or conjunction, is known to persist until death.
केतौ तत्प्रतिबन्धः स्यात् गुरौ तु स्रैण एव सः ।
राहौ चाऽर्थनिवृत्तिः स्यात् कारकांशाद् द्वितीयगे ॥३१॥
31. ketau tatpratibandhaḥ syāt gurau tu sraiṇa eva saḥ .
rāhau cā'rthanivṛttiḥ syāt kārakāṃśād dvitīyage.
31. ketau tatpratibandhaḥ syāt gurau tu sraiṇaḥ eva saḥ
rāhau ca arthanivṛttiḥ syāt kārakāṃśāt dvitīyage
31. If Ketu is in the second house from the Karakāmśa, there will be an obstruction related to those matters (signified by the second house). However, if (Jupiter) (guru) is there, the native will be effeminate or devoted to women. If Rāhu is in that position, there will be a cessation of wealth.
स्वांशात् तृतीयगे पापे जातः शूरः प्रतापवान् ।
तस्मिन् शुभग्रहे जातः कातरो नात्र संशयः ॥३२॥
32. svāṃśāt tṛtīyage pāpe jātaḥ śūraḥ pratāpavān .
tasmin śubhagrahe jātaḥ kātaro nātra saṃśayaḥ.
32. svāṃśāt tṛtīyage pāpe jātaḥ śūraḥ pratāpavān
tasmin śubhagrahe jātaḥ kātaraḥ na atra saṃśayaḥ
32. If a malefic planet is in the third house from the Svāṃśa, the native born will be brave and powerful. If, however, a benefic planet is in that same position, the native born will be cowardly; there is no doubt about this.
स्वांशाच्चतुर्थभावे तु चन्द्रशुक्रयुतेक्षिते ।
तत्र वा स्वोच्चगे खेटे जातः प्रासादवान् भवेत् ॥३३॥
33. svāṃśāccaturthabhāve tu candraśukrayutekṣite .
tatra vā svoccage kheṭe jātaḥ prāsādavān bhavet.
33. svāṃśāt caturthabhāve tu candraśukrayutekṣite
tatra vā svoccage kheṭe jātaḥ prāsādavān bhavet
33. If the fourth house from the Svāṃśa is conjoined with or aspected by the Moon and Venus, or if a planet is in its exaltation sign there, then the native will own a mansion.
शनिराहुयुते तस्मैन् जातस्य च शिलागृहम् ।
ऐष्टिकं कुजकेतुभ्यां गुरुणा दारवं गृहम् ॥३४॥

35. O (Brahmin) (dvija), a thatched house for the native is declared by the Sun. But if the Moon is in an uncovered region (in the fourth house), a pair of wives will be born (for the native).

रात्रिनाथेन दृष्टाभ्यां निश्चयेन प्रजायते ॥३६॥

केतुदृष्टौ तु ग्रहणी जलरोगोऽथवा द्विज ॥३७॥

37. O twice-born (dvija), if one is born with an aspect from Mars (Kuza), diseases like boils will arise. However, if there is an aspect from Ketu, then dysentery (grahaṇī) or a water-related disease (jalaroga) will occur.
सराहुगुलिके तत्र भयं क्षुदविषोद्भवम् ।
बुधे परमहंसश्च लगुडी वा प्रजायते ॥३८॥

38. When Rahu and Gulika are together (in the fifth house), there is fear of danger arising from minor poisons. If Mercury (Budha) is in the fifth house, one is born as a great renunciate (paramahaṃsa) or a staff-bearer (laguḍī), a warrior.
रवौ खेड्गधरो जातः कुजे कुन्तायुधी भवेत् ।
शनौ धनुर्धरो ज्ञेयो राहौ च लोहयन्त्रवान् ॥३९॥

39. If the Sun (Ravi) is in the fifth house, one is born as a sword-bearer. If Mars (Kuza) is there, one becomes a spear-wielder. If Saturn (Shani) is present, one should be known as an archer. And if Rahu is there, one will possess iron instruments.
केतौ च घटिकायन्त्री मानवो जायते द्विज ।
भार्गवे तु कविर्वाग्मी काव्यज्ञो जायते जनः ॥४०॥

40. O twice-born (dvija), if Ketu is in the fifth house, a person skilled with time-measuring devices (ghaṭikāyantrī) is born. But if Venus (Bhārgava) is present, a person is born as a poet, an eloquent speaker, and a connoisseur of literature (kāvya).
स्वांशे तत्पञ्चमे वाऽपि चन्द्रेज्याभ्यां च ग्रन्थकृत् ।
शुक्रेण किञ्चिदूनोऽसौ ततोऽप्यल्पो बुधेन च ॥४१॥

41. If the Moon and Jupiter are situated in the Svāṃśa chart or in the fifth house from it, the native becomes an author. When Venus is the indicator of authorship, it is of somewhat lesser quality, and when Mercury is the indicator, it is even less so.
गुरुणा केवलेनैव सर्वविद् ग्रन्थकृत् तथा ।
वेदवेदान्तविच्चापि न वाग्मी शाब्दकोऽपि सन् ॥४२॥
42. guruṇā kevalenaiva sarvavid granthakṛt tathā .

42. When Jupiter alone is the indicator, the native becomes omniscient and an author. Such a person is also a knower of the Vedas and Vedānta, but despite being a grammarian, he is not eloquent.
नैयायिकः कुजेनासौ ज्ञेन मीमांसकस्तथा ।
सभाजडस्तु शनिना गीतज्ञो रविणा स्मृतः ॥४३॥

43. If Mars is the indicator, the native becomes a logician (naiyāyika). If Mercury indicates, he becomes a follower of Mīmāṃsā. If Saturn is the influence, he is dull in assemblies, and by the Sun, he is considered a musician.
चन्द्रेण सांख्ययोगज्ञः साहित्यज्ञश्च गायकः ।
केतुना गणितज्ञोऽसौ राहणाऽपि तथैव च ॥४४॥

44. By the Moon, one becomes a knower of Sāṃkhya and Yoga (yoga), a literary scholar, and a singer. If Ketu is the indicator, the native becomes a mathematician, and similarly, by Rāhu as well.
सप्रदायस्य सिध्हिः स्यात् गुरुसम्बन्धतो द्विज ।
स्वांशाद् द्वितीयतः केचित् फलमेवं वदन्ति हि ॥४५॥
45. sapradāyasya sidhhiḥ syāt gurusambandhato dvija .

45. O twice-born (dvija), the success of a tradition (sampradāya) arises through connection with a guru (guru). Indeed, some scholars state that these results should be similarly considered from the second house from the Svāṃśa.
स्वांशात् षष्ठगते पापे कर्षको जायते जनः ।
शुभग्रहेऽलसश्चेति तृतीयेऽपि फलं स्मृतम् ॥४६॥
46. svāṃśāt ṣaṣṭhagate pāpe karṣako jāyate janaḥ .

46. A person becomes a farmer if a malefic planet is located in the sixth house from their Swamsa. If a benefic planet occupies that position, the person will be lazy. This same outcome is also stated for the third house.
द्यूने चन्द्रगुरु यस्य भार्या तस्यातिसुन्दरी ।
तत्र कामवती शुक्रे बुधे चैव कलावती ॥४७॥
47. dyūne candraguru yasya bhāryā tasyātisundarī .

47. If the Moon and Jupiter are located in the seventh house, a person's wife will be exceedingly beautiful. If Venus is in that house, she will be passionate, and if Mercury is there, she will be skilled in arts.
रवौ च स्वकुले गुप्ता शनौ चापि वयोऽधिका ।
तपस्विनी रुजाढ्य वा राहौ च विधवा स्मृता ॥४८॥

48. If the Sun is in that house, she remains protected within her own family. If Saturn is there, she is older (than her husband), and is either an ascetic or afflicted by disease. And if Rahu is in that position, she is considered a widow.
शुभस्वामियुते रन्ध्रे स्वांशाद् दीर्घायुरुच्यते ।
पापेक्षितयुतेऽल्पायुर्मध्यायुर्मिश्रदृग्युते ॥४९॥
49. śubhasvāmiyute randhre svāṃśād dīrghāyurucyate .

49. If the eighth house from Swamsa is associated with (conjoined or aspected by) a benefic lord, a long life is predicted. If it is associated with a malefic planet, a short life is indicated. If it is associated with a mixture of benefic and malefic planets, then a medium life is expected.
कारकांशाच्च नवमे शुभग्रहयुतेक्षित ।
सत्यवादी गुरौ भक्तः स्वधर्मनिरतो नरः ॥५०॥
50. kārakāṃśācca navame śubhagrahayutekṣita .

50. If the ninth house from Karakamsha is conjoined with or aspected by a benefic planet, the person will be truthful, devoted to their spiritual teacher (guru), and committed to their own intrinsic nature (dharma).

स्वधर्मनिरतो बाल्ये मिथ्यावादी च वार्धके ॥५१॥

51. If the ninth house from the Svāṁśa (the navāṁśa sign occupied by the ātmakāraka planet) is conjoined with or aspected by malefic planets, the individual will be dedicated to his own (dharma) intrinsic nature or duties in childhood, but will speak untruths in old age.
नवमे कारकांशाच्च शनिराहुयुतेक्षिते ।
गुरुद्रोही भवेद् बालः शास्त्रेषु विमुखो नरः ॥५२॥
52. navame kārakāṃśācca śanirāhuyutekṣite .

52. If the ninth house from the Kārakāṁśa (the navāṁśa sign occupied by the ātmakāraka planet) is conjoined with or aspected by Saturn and Rāhu, the individual (bāla) becomes a betrayer of his teacher (guru) and is averse to scriptures (śāstra).
कारकांशाच्च नवमे गुरुभानुयुतेक्षिते ।
तदाऽपि गुरुद्रोही स्यात् गुरुवाक्यं न मन्यते ॥५३॥
53. kārakāṃśācca navame gurubhānuyutekṣite .

53. If the ninth house from the Kārakāṁśa (the navāṁśa sign occupied by the ātmakāraka planet) is conjoined with or aspected by Jupiter and the Sun, then also the individual would be a betrayer of his teacher (guru) and would not respect his teacher's (guru) words.
कारकांशाच्च नवमे शुक्रभौमयुतेक्षिते ।
षड्वर्गादिकयोगे तु मरणं पारदारिकम् ॥५४॥
54. kārakāṃśācca navame śukrabhaumayutekṣite .

If the ninth house from the Kārakāṁśa (the navāṁśa sign occupied by the ātmakāraka planet) is conjoined with or aspected by Venus and Mars, and if there are also specific planetary combinations (yoga) in the ṣaḍvarga charts, then death may occur due to an illicit connection with another man's wife.
कारकांशाच्च नवमे ज्ञेन्दुयुक्तेक्षिते द्विज ।
परस्त्री सङ्गमाद् बालो बन्धको भवति ध्रुवम् ॥५५॥
55. kārakāṃśācca navame jñenduyuktekṣite dvija .

55. O Twice-born (dvija), if the ninth house from the Kārakāṁśa (the navāṁśa sign occupied by the ātmakāraka planet) is conjoined with or aspected by Mercury and the Moon, then the individual (bāla) will certainly be imprisoned due to illicit association with another man's wife.
नवमे केवलेनैवे गुरुणा च युतेक्षिते ।
स्त्रीलोतुपो भवेज्जातो विषयी चैव जायते ॥५६॥
56. navame kevalenaive guruṇā ca yutekṣite .
strīlotupo bhavejjāto viṣayī caiva jāyate.

56. If Jupiter (guru) is in the ninth house, whether it is alone or conjoined with or aspected by other planets, the native becomes lustful for women and engrossed in worldly pleasures.
कारकांशाच्च दशमे शुभल्हेटयुतेक्षिते ।
स्थिरवित्तो भवेद् बालो गम्भीरो बलबुद्धिमान् ॥५७॥
57. kārakāṃśācca daśame śubhalheṭayutekṣite .
sthiravitto bhaved bālo gambhīro balabuddhimān.

57. If, from the Kāraka-aṃśa, the tenth house is conjoined with or aspected by benefic planets, the native becomes wealthy, profound, and possessed of strength and intelligence.
दशमे कारकांशाच्च पापखेटयुतेक्षिते ।
व्यापारे जायते हानिः पितृसौख्येन वर्जितः ॥५८॥
58. daśame kārakāṃśācca pāpakheṭayutekṣite .
vyāpāre jāyate hāniḥ pitṛsaukhyena varjitaḥ.

58. If, from the Kāraka-aṃśa, the tenth house is conjoined with or aspected by malefic planets, there is loss in business and the native is deprived of paternal happiness.

व्यापारे बहुलाभश्च महत्कर्मकओर् नरः ॥५९॥
59. daśame kārakāṃśācca budhaśukrayutekṣite .
vyāpāre bahulābhaśca mahatkarmakaor naraḥ.

59. If, from the Kāraka-aṃśa, the tenth house is conjoined with or aspected by Mercury and Venus, there is great profit in business, and the native performs great deeds.

गुरुदृष्टयुते विप्र जातको राज्यभाग् भवेत् ॥६०॥
60. kārakāṃśācca daśame ravicandrayutekṣite .

60. O Brahmin (vipra), if, from the Kāraka-aṃśa, the tenth house is conjoined with or aspected by the Sun and Moon, and additionally conjoined or aspected by Jupiter (guru), the native becomes a ruler.
स्वांशादेकादशे स्थाने शुभखेटयुतेक्षिते ।
भ्रातृसौख्ययुतो बालः सर्वकार्येषु लाभकृत् ॥६१॥
61. svāṃśādekādaśe sthāne śubhakheṭayutekṣite .
bhrātṛsaukhyayuto bālaḥ sarvakāryeṣu lābhakṛt.
61. svāṃśāt ekādaśe sthāne śubhakheṭa-yuta-īkṣite

61. If the eleventh house from the "svāṃśa" (the Navāṃśa sign of the Ātmakāraka) is conjoined with or aspected by auspicious planets, the native will enjoy happiness from siblings and will gain profit in all undertakings.
एकादशे सपापे तु कुमार्गाल्लाबकृन्नरः ।
विख्यातो विक्रमी चैव जायते नाऽत्र संशयः ॥६२॥
62. ekādaśe sapāpe tu kumārgāllābakṛnnaraḥ .
vikhyāto vikramī caiva jāyate nā'tra saṃśayaḥ.
62. ekādaśe sa-pāpe tu kumārgāt lābhakṛt naraḥ
vikhyātaḥ vikramī ca eva jāyate na atra saṃśayaḥ
62. However, if the eleventh house has malefic planets, the person earns profit through dishonest means, and indeed becomes renowned and valorous; there is no doubt about this.
कारकांशाद् व्ययस्थाने सद्ग्रहे सद्व्ययो भवेत् ।
असद्व्ययोऽशुभे ज्ञयो ग्रहाभावे च सत्फलम् ॥६३॥
63. kārakāṃśād vyayasthāne sadgrahe sadvyayo bhavet .
asadvyayo'śubhe jñayo grahābhāve ca satphalam.
63. kārakāṃśāt vyaya-sthāne sadgrahe sadvyayaḥ bhavet
asadvyayaḥ aśubhe jñeyaḥ graha-abhāve ca satphalam
63. From the "kārakāṃśa" (the Navāṃśa sign of the Ātmakāraka), if an auspicious planet is in the twelfth house, there will be beneficial expenses. If a malefic planet is present, one should understand that there will be detrimental expenses. And if no planet is present, there will be good results.
कारकांशाद् व्ययस्थाने स्वभोच्चस्थे शुभग्रहे ।
सद्गतिर्जायते तस्य शुभलोकमवाप्नुयात् ॥६४॥
64. kārakāṃśād vyayasthāne svabhoccasthe śubhagrahe .
sadgatirjāyate tasya śubhalokamavāpnuyāt.
64. kārakāṃśāt vyaya-sthāne svabha-ucca-sthe śubha-grahe
sadgatiḥ jāyate tasya śubha-lokam avāpnuyāt
64. If an auspicious planet, situated in its own sign or exaltation, is in the twelfth house from the "kārakāṃśa" (the Navāṃśa sign of the Ātmakāraka), then that person achieves a good destiny and attains auspicious realms.
कारकांशाद् व्यये केतौ शुभखेटयुतेक्षिते ।
तदा तु जायते मुक्तिः सायुज्यपदमाप्नुयात् ॥६५॥
65. kārakāṃśād vyaye ketau śubhakheṭayutekṣite .
tadā tu jāyate muktiḥ sāyujyapadamāpnuyāt.

tadā tu jāyate muktiḥ sāyujya-padam avāpnuyāt
65. If Ketu is in the twelfth house from the "kārakāṃśa" (the Navāṃśa sign of the Ātmakāraka) and is conjoined with or aspected by auspicious planets, then indeed, final liberation (mokṣa) occurs, and the native attains the state of ultimate union.
मेषे धनुषि वा केतौ कारकांशात् व्यये स्थिते ।
शुभखेटेन सन्दृष्टे सायुजपदमाप्नुयात् ॥६६॥
66. meṣe dhanuṣi vā ketau kārakāṃśāt vyaye sthite .

66. If Ketu is situated in the 12th house (vyaya) from the Kārakāṃśa lagna, either in Aries (Meṣa) or Sagittarius (Dhanuṣa), and is aspected by a benefic planet, the native attains the state of union (sāyujya).
व्यये च केवले केतौ पापयुक्तेक्षितेपि वा ।
न तदा जायते मुक्तिः शुभलोकं न पश्यति ॥६७॥
67. vyaye ca kevale ketau pāpayuktekṣitepi vā .
na tadā jāyate muktiḥ śubhalokaṃ na paśyati.

67. And if Ketu is merely situated alone in the 12th house (vyaya), or is conjoined with or aspected by a malefic (pāpa) planet, then liberation (mokṣa) does not occur, and the native does not perceive auspicious realms.
रविणा संयुते केतौ कारकांशाद् व्ययस्थिते ।
शिवभक्तिर्भवेस्यत्त निर्विशंकं द्विजोत्तम ॥६८॥

68. O best among the twice-born (dvija)! When Ketu is conjoined with the Sun (Ravi) and situated in the 12th house (vyaya) from the Kārakāṃśa lagna, devotion (bhakti) to Shiva will undoubtedly be for that native.
चन्द्रेण संयुते केतौ कारकांशाद् व्ययस्थिते ।
गौर्यां भक्तिर्भवेत्तस्य शाक्तिको जायते नरः ॥६९॥

69. When Ketu is conjoined with the Moon (Candra) and situated in the 12th house (vyaya) from the Kārakāṃśa lagna, then devotion (bhakti) to Gaurī (Pārvatī) will be for that native, and he becomes a worshiper of the Divine Mother (śakti).
शुक्रेण संयुते केतौ कारकांशाद् व्ययस्थिते ।
लक्ष्म्यां सञ्जायते भक्तिर्जातको सौ समृद्धिमान् ॥७०॥

कुजेन संयुते केतौ स्कन्दभक्तौ भवेन्नरः ।
वैष्णवो बुधसौरिभ्यां गुरुणा शिवभक्तिमान् ॥७१॥
71. kujena saṃyute ketau skandabhaktau bhavennaraḥ .

71. When Ketu is conjunct with Mars, a person becomes engaged in devotion to Skanda (bhakti). If Mercury and Saturn are together, he becomes a devotee of Vishnu. With Jupiter, he becomes a devotee of Shiva (bhaktimān).
राहुणा तामसीं दुर्गां सेवते क्षुद्रदेवताम् ।
भक्तिः स्कन्देऽथ हेरभ्भे शिखिना केवलेन वा ॥७२॥
72. rāhuṇā tāmasīṃ durgāṃ sevate kṣudradevatām .
bhaktiḥ skande'tha herabhbhe śikhinā kevalena vā.

72. When Rahu is present, one serves Tāmasī Durgā or other minor deities (kṣudradevatā). Devotion (bhakti) is for Skanda or Herambha (Gaṇeśa) if Ketu is alone.
कारकांशाद् व्यये सौरिः पापराशौ यदा भवेत् ।
तदाऽपि क्षुद्रदेवस्य भक्तिस्तस्य न संशयः ॥७३॥
73. kārakāṃśād vyaye sauriḥ pāparāśau yadā bhavet .
tadā'pi kṣudradevasya bhaktistasya na saṃśayaḥ.

73. When Saturn (Sauri) is in the twelfth house (vyaya) from the Kārakaṃśa lagna and in a malefic sign (pāparāśi), then certainly his devotion (bhakti) is also directed towards minor deities (kṣudradeva); there is no doubt about this.
पापर्क्षेऽपि शनौ सुक्रे तदाऽपि क्षुद्रसेवकः ।
अमात्यकारकात् षष्ठेप्तेवमेव फलं वदेत् ॥७४॥
74. pāparkṣe'pi śanau sukre tadā'pi kṣudrasevakaḥ .
amātyakārakāt ṣaṣṭheptevameva phalaṃ vadet.

74. Even if Saturn and Venus are situated in a malefic constellation (pāparkṣa), then also a person becomes a servant of minor deities (kṣudrasevaka). One should declare the same outcome (phala) if the sixth house is calculated from the Amatyakāraka.
कारकांशात् त्रिकोणस्थे पापखेतद्वये द्विज ।
मानवो मन्त्रतन्त्रज्ञो जायते नाऽत्र संशयः ॥७५॥
75. kārakāṃśāt trikoṇasthe pāpakhetadvaye dvija .

75. O twice-born one (dvija), if two malefic planets (pāpakhetadvaya) are situated in a trine (trikoṇa) from the Kārakaṃśa, a person becomes knowledgeable in mantras (mantra) and tantras (tantra); there is no doubt about this.
पापेन वीक्षिते तत्र जातो निग्राहको भवेत् ।
शुभैर्निरीक्षिते तस्मिन् नरोऽनुग्राहको भवेत् ॥७६॥
76. pāpena vīkṣite tatra jāto nigrāhako bhavet .

76. When a planet or house is aspected by a malefic, the person born will become an oppressor or one who restrains. If it is aspected by benefics, that person will become a patron or one who favors.
शुक्रदृष्टे विधौ स्वांशे रसवादी भवेन्नरः ।
बुधदृष्टे च सद्वैद्यः सर्वरोगहरो भवेत् ॥७७॥
77. śukradṛṣṭe vidhau svāṃśe rasavādī bhavennaraḥ .

77. When the Moon is in its own Navāṃśa (swa-aṃśa) and aspected by Venus, the person becomes skilled in alchemy or medicinal preparations (rasavādī). And if that Moon is aspected by Mercury, the person becomes a good physician, capable of curing all diseases.
शुक्रदृष्टे सुखे चन्द्रे पाण्डुश्वित्री भवेन्नरः ।
भौमदृष्टे महारोगी रक्तपित्तार्दितो भवेत् ॥७८॥

78. When the Moon is in the fourth house (sukha) and aspected by Venus, the person becomes afflicted with anemia (pāṇḍu) and vitiligo (śvitrī). If that Moon is aspected by Mars, the person becomes gravely ill, tormented by bleeding disorders (raktapitta).
केतुदृष्टे सुखे चंद्रे नीलकुष्ठी प्रजायते ।
चतुर्थे पञ्चमेवाऽहि स्थितौ राहुकुजौ यदि ॥७९॥
79. ketudṛṣṭe sukhe caṃdre nīlakuṣṭhī prajāyate .

79. When the Moon is in the fourth house (sukha) and aspected by Ketu, the person becomes afflicted with black leprosy. Furthermore, if Rāhu and Mars are situated in either the fourth or fifth house... (this condition continues into the next verse).
क्षयरोगो भवेत् तस्य चन्द्रदृष्टौ तु निश्चितः ।
स्वांशात् सुखे सुते वाऽपि केवलः संस्थितः कुजः ॥८०॥
80. kṣayarogo bhavet tasya candradṛṣṭau tu niścitaḥ .
svāṃśāt sukhe sute vā'pi kevalaḥ saṃsthitaḥ kujaḥ.

80. ...then tuberculosis is certainly destined for that person if that combination (Rāhu and Mars in 4th/5th) is aspected by the Moon. Alternatively, if Mars is situated alone in the fourth or fifth house from its own Navāṃśa (swa-aṃśa)... (this condition continues into the next verse).
पिट्कादिर्भवेत् तस्य तदा रोगो न संशयः ।
ग्रहणी जलरोगो वा तत्र केतौ स्थिते सति ॥८१॥
81. piṭkādirbhavet tasya tadā rogo na saṃśayaḥ .

81. When Ketu is situated in that place, the person will undoubtedly suffer from diseases such as pimples, dysentery, or water-borne illnesses.
ख्वर्भानुगुलिकौ तत्र विषवैद्यो विषार्दितः ।
स्वांशकात् पञ्चमे भावे केवले संस्थिते शनौ ॥८२॥
82. khvarbhānugulikau tatra viṣavaidyo viṣārditaḥ .
svāṃśakāt pañcame bhāve kevale saṃsthite śanau.

82. If the Sun, Rahu, Gulika, and Manda are present in that place, the native will be a poison expert or afflicted by poisons. When Saturn is situated alone in the fifth house from the Svāṃśa, (then...)
धनुर्विद्याविदा जाता भवन्त्यत्र न संशयः ।
केतौ च केवले तत्र घटिकायन्त्रकारकः ॥८३॥
83. dhanurvidyāvidā jātā bhavantyatra na saṃśayaḥ .

83. When Saturn is situated alone, without a doubt, they become proficient in archery. And when Ketu is alone in that place (the fifth house from Svāṃśa), the native becomes a maker of water-clocks or time-measuring instruments.
बुधे परमहंसो वा दण्डी भवति मानवः ।
लोहयन्त्री तथा राहौ रवौ खेड्गधरो भवेत् ॥८४॥
84. budhe paramahaṃso vā daṇḍī bhavati mānavaḥ .

84. If Mercury is present (in the fifth house from Svāṃśa), the person becomes a supreme ascetic (paramahaṃsa) or an ascetic (daṇḍī) carrying a staff. Similarly, if Rahu is there, the native works with iron or machinery, and if the Sun is present, one becomes a sword-bearer.
केवले च कुजे तत्र जातः कुन्तास्त्रधारकः ।
स्वांशे वा पन्ऽचमे स्वांशाच्चन्द्रेज्यौ संस्थितौ तदा ॥८५॥
85. kevale ca kuje tatra jātaḥ kuntāstradhārakaḥ .

85. And when Mars (Kuja) is alone in that place (the fifth house from Svāṃśa), the native becomes a wielder of spears and other weapons. Alternatively, when the Moon and Jupiter are situated together in the fifth house from the Svāṃśa, then...
ग्रन्थकर्ता भवेज्जातः सर्वविद्याविशारदः ।
तत्र दैत्यगुरौ किञ्चिदूनग्रन्थकरो भवेत् ॥८६॥
86. granthakartā bhavejjātaḥ sarvavidyāviśāradaḥ .
tatra daityagurau kiñcidūnagranthakaro bhavet.

86. A person becomes a scholar skilled in all branches of knowledge and an author. However, if the preceptor of demons (Śukra/Venus) occupies that specific position, the person will be an author of slightly fewer texts.
बुधे तत्र ततोऽप्यूनग्रन्थकर्त्ता प्रजायते ।
तत्र शुक्रे कविर्वाग्मी काव्यज्ञश्च प्रजायते ॥८७॥
87. budhe tatra tato'pyūnagranthakarttā prajāyate .
tatra śukre kavirvāgmī kāvyajñaśca prajāyate.

87. If Mercury is in that position, one becomes an author of even fewer texts. If Venus is in that position, one becomes a poet, an eloquent speaker, and knowledgeable in poetry.
सर्वविद्ग्रान्थिको जीवे न वाग्मी च सभादिषु ।
शब्दज्ञश्च विशेषेण वेदवेदान्तवित् तथा ॥८८॥
88. sarvavidgrānthiko jīve na vāgmī ca sabhādiṣu .
śabdajñaśca viśeṣeṇa vedavedāntavit tathā.

88. If Jupiter is in that position, the person becomes omniscient and a scholar of texts. However, they will not be an eloquent speaker in assemblies. They will, nonetheless, be particularly knowledgeable in grammar and also in the Vedas and Vedānta.
सभाजडो भवेद् बाल उक्तस्थानगते शनौ ।
मीमांसको भवेन्नूनमुक्तस्थानगते बुधे ॥८९॥
89. sabhājaḍo bhaved bāla uktasthānagate śanau .
mīmāṃsako bhavennūnamuktasthānagate budhe.
89. sabhājaḍaḥ bhavet bālaḥ uktasthānagate śanau
mīmāṃsakaḥ bhavet nūnam uktasthānagate budhe
89. If Saturn is in the aforementioned position, the native becomes shy or hesitant in assemblies. If Mercury is in the aforementioned position, the native surely becomes a Mīmāṃsaka (an expert in scriptural interpretation).
स्वांशे वा पञ्चमे भौमे जातो नैयायिको भवेत् ।
चन्द्रे च सांख्ययोगज्ञः साहित्यज्ञश्च गायकः ॥९०॥
90. svāṃśe vā pañcame bhaume jāto naiyāyiko bhavet .

90. If Mars is in its own Navāṃśa (a divisional chart) or in the fifth house, the native becomes a logician (naiyāyika). If the Moon is in that position, the native becomes knowledgeable in Sāṃkhya and (yoga) philosophies, literature, and also a singer.
रवौ वेदान्तविच्चैव गीतज्ञश्च प्रजायते ।
केतौ च गणितज्ञः स्याज्ज्योतिःशास्त्रविशारदः ॥९१॥
91. ravau vedāntaviccaiva gītajñaśca prajāyate .

91. If the Sun is influential, a person becomes a knower of Vedānta and music. And if Ketu is influential, they become a mathematician and an expert in the science of astrology (jyotiḥśāstra).
सम्प्रदायस्य संसिद्धिर्गुरुसम्बन्धतो भवेत् ।
द्वितीये च तृतीये च स्वांशादेवं विचारयेत् ॥९२॥
92. sampradāyasya saṃsiddhirgurusambandhato bhavet .
dvitīye ca tṛtīye ca svāṃśādevaṃ vicārayet.
92. sampradāyasya saṃsiddhiḥ guru-sambandhataḥ bhavet
dvitīye ca tṛtīye ca svāṃśāt evam vicārayet
92. The perfect accomplishment of a tradition (sampradāya) comes through connection with a spiritual teacher (guru). One should consider this principle in relation to the second and third houses from the Svāṃśa.
भावे सूक्ष्मफलं ज्ञात्वा जातकस्य फलं वदेत् ।
केतौ स्वांशाद्द्वितीये वा तृतीये स्तब्धवाग् भवेत् ॥९३॥
93. bhāve sūkṣmaphalaṃ jñātvā jātakasya phalaṃ vadet .
ketau svāṃśāddvitīye vā tṛtīye stabdhavāg bhavet.

93. Having understood the subtle results of a house (bhāva), one should declare the native's results. If Ketu is in the second or third house from the Svāṃśa, the person will have blocked speech.
पापदृष्टे विशेषेण मानवो वक्तुमक्षमः ।
स्वांशाल्लग्नात् पदाद्वाऽपि द्वितीयाष्टमभावयोः ॥९४॥
94. pāpadṛṣṭe viśeṣeṇa mānavo vaktumakṣamaḥ .
svāṃśāllagnāt padādvā'pi dvitīyāṣṭamabhāvayoḥ.
94. pāpadṛṣṭe viśeṣeṇa mānavaḥ vaktum akṣamaḥ svāṃśāt
lagnāt padāt vā api dvitīya-aṣṭama-bhāvayoḥ
94. If aspected by malefic planets, especially, a person becomes incapable of speech. This applies to the second and eighth houses from the Svāṃśa, Lagna, or even from the Pada.
केमद्रुमः पापसाम्ये चन्द्रदृष्टौ विशेषतः ।
अत्राऽध्याये च ये योगाः सफलाः कथिता मया ॥९५॥
95. kemadrumaḥ pāpasāmye candradṛṣṭau viśeṣataḥ .
atrā'dhyāye ca ye yogāḥ saphalāḥ kathitā mayā.
95. atra adhyāye ca ye yogāḥ
sa-phalāḥ kathitāḥ mayā
95. And in this chapter, whatever combinations (yogas) have been described by me are fruitful.
योगकर्तृदशायान्ते ज्ञेयाः सर्वे फलप्रदाः ।
एवं दशाप्रदाद्राशैर्द्वितीयाष्टमयोर्द्विज ॥९६॥
96. yogakartṛdaśāyānte jñeyāḥ sarve phalapradāḥ .
evaṃ daśāpradādrāśairdvitīyāṣṭamayordvija.

evam daśāpradāt rāśaiḥ dvitīyāṣṭamayoḥ dvija
96. O twice-born (dvija), at the conclusion of the planetary period (dasha) of the planet that forms a (yoga), all planets are understood to grant their results. Similarly, from the dasha-giving sign, (planets) positioned in the second and eighth (houses) are also to be considered.
ग्रहसाम्ये च विज्ञेयो योगः केमद्रुमोऽशुभः ।
दशाप्रारम्भसमये सलग्नान् साधयेद् ग्रहान् ॥९७॥
97. grahasāmye ca vijñeyo yogaḥ kemadrumo'śubhaḥ .
daśāprārambhasamaye salagnān sādhayed grahān.

97. And in a condition of planetary equality (graha-sāmye), the Kemadruma (yoga) is to be understood as inauspicious. At the time of the dasha's (planetary period's) commencement, one should determine the positions of the planets along with the ascendant (lagna).
ज्ञेयस्तत्रापि योगोऽयं पापसाम्येऽर्थरन्ध्रयोः ।
एवं तन्वादिभावानां सूर्यादीनां नभसदाम् ॥९८॥
98. jñeyastatrāpi yogo'yaṃ pāpasāmye'rtharandhrayoḥ .
evaṃ tanvādibhāvānāṃ sūryādīnāṃ nabhasadām.
98. jñeyaḥ tatra api yogaḥ ayam pāpasāmye artharandhrayoḥ
| evam tanvādibhāvānām sūryādīnām nabhasadām
98. This planetary combination (yoga) is also to be known when malefic planets (pāpa) are in a state of similarity or equality (sāmye) in the second and eighth houses (artha-randrayoḥ). Similarly, regarding the houses (bhāvas) starting from the first (tanu), and the Sun and other celestial bodies (nabhasada)...
तत्तत्स्थित्यनुसारेण फलं वाच्यं विपश्चिता ।
इति संक्षेपतः प्रोक्तं कारकांशफलं मया ॥९९॥
99. tattatsthityanusāreṇa phalaṃ vācyaṃ vipaścitā .
iti saṃkṣepataḥ proktaṃ kārakāṃśaphalaṃ mayā.
99. tat-tat-sthityanusāreṇa phalam vācyam vipaścitā
| iti saṃkṣepataḥ proktam kārakāṃśaphalam mayā
99. The wise (vipaścitā) should declare the results according to the respective positions (of the houses and planets mentioned). Thus, the results of the Karakamsa (division) have been briefly explained by me.
