मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-21, verse-68

भर्तव्या रक्षितव्या च भार्या हि पतिना सदा ।
धर्मार्थकामसंसिद्ध्यै भार्या भर्तृसहायिनी ॥६८॥
68. bhartavyā rakṣitavyā ca bhāryā hi patinā sadā .
dharmārthakāmasaṃsiddhyai bhāryā bhartṛsahāyinī.
68. bhartavyā rakṣitavyā ca bhāryā hi patinā sadā
dharma-artha-kāma-saṃsiddhyai bhāryā bhartṛ-sahāyinī
68. Indeed, a wife should always be maintained and protected by her husband. For the perfect attainment of (dharma), prosperity (artha), and pleasure (kāma), a wife is a helper to her husband.
