मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-21, verse-58

त्वयैव विद्धोऽसन्दिग्धं स पापो दानवाधमः ।
सुरभिः सा गवां माता कथं मिथ्या वदिष्यति ॥५८॥
58. tvayaiva viddho'sandigdhaṃ sa pāpo dānavādhamaḥ .
surabhiḥ sā gavāṃ mātā kathaṃ mithyā vadiṣyati.
58. tvayā eva viddhaḥ asandigdham saḥ pāpaḥ dānavādhamaḥ
surabhiḥ sā gavām mātā katham mithyā vadiṣyati
58. That wicked demon (dānavādhama) was undoubtedly struck by you alone. How can Surabhi, the mother of cows, speak falsely?
