मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-10, verse-14

पुत्रा येऽनन्तरस्त्रीजाः क्रमेणोक्ता द्विजन्मनाम ।
ताननन्तरनाम्नस्तु मातृदोषात प्रचक्षते ॥१४॥
14. putrā ye'nantarastrījāḥ krameṇoktā dvijanmanām ,
tānanantaranāmnastu mātṛdoṣāt pracakṣate.

tān anantaranāmnaḥ tu mātṛdoṣāt pracakṣate

14. The sons who are declared, in sequential order, as being born to men of the twice-born (dvija) castes from women of the immediately subsequent (lower) caste are, due to the imperfection of the mother's lineage, known by the name of that immediately subsequent (caste).
