मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-10, verse-111

जपहोमैरपेत्येनो याजनाध्यापनैः कृतम ।
प्रतिग्रहनिमित्तं तु त्यागेन तपसैव च ॥१११॥
111. japahomairapetyeno yājanādhyāpanaiḥ kṛtam ,
pratigrahanimittaṁ tu tyāgena tapasaiva ca.

111. The sin committed through officiating at (Vedic rituals) (yajña) and teaching is removed by chanting (japa) and fire rituals (homa). However, that [sin] which is due to the acceptance of gifts is purified solely by renunciation and asceticism (tapas).
