महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-5, verse-22

यं लब्ध्वा मागधो राजा सान्त्वमानार्थगौरवैः ।
अरौत्सीत्पार्थिवं क्षत्रमृते कौरवयादवान् ॥२२॥
22. yaṁ labdhvā māgadho rājā sāntvamānārthagauravaiḥ ,
arautsītpārthivaṁ kṣatramṛte kauravayādavān.

22. Having obtained him (Karṇa) with conciliatory words, honor, and generous gifts (artha-gauravaiḥ), the king of Magadha (Jarāsandha) had confined the royal warrior class, with the sole exception of the Kauravas and Yadavas.
