महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-5, verse-47

कच्चिन्न नीचाचरितं कृतवांस्तात संयुगे ।
कच्चिन्न निहतः शूरो यथा न क्षत्रिया हताः ॥४७॥
47. kaccinna nīcācaritaṁ kṛtavāṁstāta saṁyuge ,
kaccinna nihataḥ śūro yathā na kṣatriyā hatāḥ.
47. kaccit na nīca ācaritam kṛtavān tāta saṃyuge
kaccit na nihataḥ śūraḥ yathā na kṣatriyāḥ hatāḥ
47. tāta saṃyuge nīcācaritam na kṛtavān kaccit
śūraḥ na nihataḥ kaccit yathā kṣatriyāḥ na hatāḥ
47. O dear one, I hope he did not perform a cowardly act in battle. I hope the hero was not killed, lest Kṣatriyas (as a whole) be annihilated.
