महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-85, verse-25

तांस्तु सर्वान्महेष्वासान्द्रोणः शस्त्रभृतां वरः ।
अतापयच्छरव्रातैर्गभस्तिभिरिवांशुमान् ॥२५॥
25. tāṁstu sarvānmaheṣvāsāndroṇaḥ śastrabhṛtāṁ varaḥ ,
atāpayaccharavrātairgabhastibhirivāṁśumān.
25. tān tu sarvān maheṣvāsān droṇaḥ śastrabṛtāṃ varaḥ
atāpayat śaravrātaiḥ gabhastibhiḥ iva aṃśumān
25. tu śastrabṛtāṃ varaḥ droṇaḥ tān sarvān maheṣvāsān
śaravrātaiḥ aṃśumān gabhastibhiḥ iva atāpayat
25. But Drona, who was the foremost among weapon-bearers (śastrabṛtāṃ varaḥ) and a great archer himself, scorched all those great archers (maheṣvāsān) with torrents of arrows, just as the sun (aṃśumān) scorches with its rays.
