57.
Again (punaḥ ca api), the great-bodied (mahākāya) [Ghatotkacha], even though he was cut into a hundred pieces (saṃchinnaḥ śatadhā) in battle (raṇe), was seen (vyadṛśyata) to have lost his vitality (gata-sattvaḥ), become dispirited (nirutsāhaḥ), and fallen (patitaḥ) from the sky (khāt). The chiefs of the Kurus (kuru-puṅgavāḥ), believing him (tam) to be dead (hatam), then roared (prāṇadan sma) [in exultation].
