महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-57, verse-90

गौतमान्मिथुनं जज्ञे शरस्तम्बाच्छरद्वतः ।
अश्वत्थाम्नश्च जननी कृपश्चैव महाबलः ।
अश्वत्थामा ततो जज्ञे द्रोणादस्त्रभृतां वरः ॥९०॥
90. gautamānmithunaṁ jajñe śarastambāccharadvataḥ ,
aśvatthāmnaśca jananī kṛpaścaiva mahābalaḥ ,
aśvatthāmā tato jajñe droṇādastrabhṛtāṁ varaḥ.
90. gautamāt mithunam jajñe śarastambāt
śaradvataḥ aśvatthāmnaḥ ca jananī
kṛpaḥ ca eva mahābalaḥ aśvatthāmā
tataḥ jajñe droṇāt astrabhṛtām varaḥ
90. From Śaradvat, a descendant of Gautama, a pair of twins was born from a clump of reeds: the mighty Kṛpa and the mother of Aśvatthāmā (Kṛpī). Then, Aśvatthāmā, the foremost among weapon-wielders, was born from Droṇa.
