महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-27, verse-73

मित्रध्रुङ्मद्रको नित्यं यो नो द्वेष्टि स मद्रकः ।
मद्रके संगतं नास्ति क्षुद्रवाक्ये नराधमे ॥७३॥
73. mitradhruṅmadrako nityaṁ yo no dveṣṭi sa madrakaḥ ,
madrake saṁgataṁ nāsti kṣudravākye narādhame.
73. mitradhruk madrakaḥ nityaṃ yaḥ naḥ dveṣṭi saḥ madrakaḥ
| madrake saṃgatam na asti kṣudravākye narādhame
73. madrakaḥ nityaṃ mitradhruk (bhavati).

73. A Madra is always a betrayer of friends. He who hates us is a Madra. There is no good association with a Madra, who is characterized by petty speech and is the lowest of men.
