महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-88, verse-52

तस्यां संसदि सर्वस्यां क्षत्तारं पूजयाम्यहम् ।
वृत्तेन हि भवत्यार्यो न धनेन न विद्यया ॥५२॥
52. tasyāṁ saṁsadi sarvasyāṁ kṣattāraṁ pūjayāmyaham ,
vṛttena hi bhavatyāryo na dhanena na vidyayā.
52. tasyām saṃsadi sarvasyām kṣattāram pūjayāmi aham
vṛttena hi bhavati āryaḥ na dhanena na vidyayā
52. In that entire assembly, I honor the charioteer (kṣattā). For truly, a person becomes noble (ārya) by their character (vṛttena), not by wealth, nor by knowledge.
