बृहत्-पाराशर-होरा-शास्त्रम्       bṛhat-pārāśara-horā-śāstram - chapter-50, verse-8

पापर्क्षे शुभसंयुक्ते पूर्वं सौख्यं ततोऽशुभम् ।
पापक्षेत्रे पापयुक्ते सा दशा सर्वदुखदा ॥८॥
8. pāparkṣe śubhasaṃyukte pūrvaṃ saukhyaṃ tato'śubham .
pāpakṣetre pāpayukte sā daśā sarvadukhadā.
8. pāparṣe śubha-saṃyukte pūrvam saukhyam tataḥ
aśubham pāpa-kṣetre pāpa-yukte sā daśā sarva-dukhadā
8. If a planetary period (daśā) occurs in a malefic sign (pāpa-ṛkṣa) associated with benefic planets, there is happiness at first, but then inauspicious results. If it is a malefic house (pāpa-kṣetra) associated with malefic planets, that entire planetary period (daśā) causes all kinds of suffering.
