If a planetary period (daśā) occurs in a malefic sign (pāpa-ṛkṣa) associated with benefic planets, there is happiness at first, but then inauspicious results. If it is a malefic house (pāpa-kṣetra) associated with malefic planets, that entire planetary period (daśā) causes all kinds of suffering.
