चरस्थिरादिसंज्ञा या दशाः प्रोक्ताः पुरा द्विज ।
शुभाऽशुभफलं तासां कथयामि तवाऽग्रतः ॥१॥

O twice-born (dvija), I will now explain to you the auspicious and inauspicious results of those Dasha periods previously named 'movable' (cara), 'fixed' (sthira), and so on.
