महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-41, verse-36

अर्थस्य पुरुषो दासो दासस्त्वर्थो न कस्यचित् ।
इति सत्यं महाराज बद्धोऽस्म्यर्थेन कौरवैः ॥३६॥
36. arthasya puruṣo dāso dāsastvartho na kasyacit ,
iti satyaṁ mahārāja baddho'smyarthena kauravaiḥ.
36. arthasya puruṣaḥ dāsaḥ dāsaḥ tu arthaḥ na kasyacit
| iti satyam mahārāja baddhaḥ asmi arthena kauravaiḥ
36. puruṣaḥ arthasya dāsaḥ; tu arthaḥ kasyacit na dāsaḥ.

36. A person is a slave of wealth, but wealth is not a slave to anyone. This is the truth, O great king: I am bound by wealth by the Kauravas.
