महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-27, verse-83

ऊर्जावतीं मधुमतीं महापुण्यां त्रिवर्त्मगाम् ।
त्रिलोकगोप्त्रीं ये गङ्गां संश्रितास्ते दिवं गताः ॥८३॥
83. ūrjāvatīṁ madhumatīṁ mahāpuṇyāṁ trivartmagām ,
trilokagoptrīṁ ye gaṅgāṁ saṁśritāste divaṁ gatāḥ.

83. Those who have sought refuge in the Gaṅgā – which is full of vigor, sweet, immensely sacred, flows in three paths, and is the protectress of the three worlds – they have attained heaven.
